Women's Winter Solstice Ritual: The Return of Light
This is the solstice, the still point of the sun, its cusp and midnight, the year’s threshold and unlocking, where the past lets go of and becomes the future; the place of caught breath. — Margaret Atwood
As many cultures recognize, the solstice celebration begins at night, revealing from dark silence the whispers of new beginnings and the stirring of seeds underground. The time leading up to the Winter Solstice, around December 21st, is a sacred and powerful period of waiting and anticipation for the return of light. Together with all of creation, we embrace this moment.
Join Kristen DiOrio of Pause and prenatal, postpartum, and Baby and Me yoga teacher Shiya Furstenau for an extraordinary evening. Experience the magic of connecting with nature, grounding meditation practices, intention-setting, prayers, wishes, and dreams. Come prepared for light yogic movements and seated and supine meditations.
**We invite you to bring an item for our Circle of Light Altar. Suggestions include pine or evergreen boughs, fruit (especially apples), animal figures, rocks, pine cones—representing the animal, mineral, and natural worlds—or anything that inspires you during this reflective season.
